Securing SSH

  1. Change SSH port

    nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
    # Port 22 → Port 2222
    systemctl restart sshd
    
  2. Disable root login

    PermitRootLogin no
    
  3. SSH keys only

    PasswordAuthentication no
    

Firewall

apt install ufw
ufw allow 2222/tcp
ufw allow 80/tcp
ufw allow 443/tcp
ufw enable

Fail2ban

apt install fail2ban
systemctl enable fail2ban

Updates

apt update && apt upgrade -y
